While the vast majority of the people buying and selling online are honest, well intentioned people, fraud does exist in our society and your best protection is information.

The following precautions are commonly used by online sellers:
- Beware of buyers who want to buy immediately, without any reasonable concern about the item or cost
- Never allow a 3rd party pick up or ship the item for you
- Look for proper use of English in emails
- Do not repay or accept any "overpayment" from the buyer (even if it's for shipping) - only take exact amounts
- Be highly skeptical of CASHIER's CHECKS! Using cashier's checks is ONE OF THE MOST COMMONLY USED internet fraud tactics. Please check out the following link for more information.

Buyers commonly follow these precautions:
- Too good to be true IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
- Make sure the email address on the ad listing and the one you communicate with are the same
- Use "Rate a Seller" within your "My Pit Lane" to tell others about your dealings with a seller
- Ask detailed questions about the part to get an idea if the seller is knowledgable
